SG Chimney Sweep
Terms and conditions
These terms explain what to expect when you arrange chimney sweeping or related services with us. Please read them before your appointment and ask if anything is unclear.
1. Who we are
SG Chimney Sweep is a family business based at 44 Queens Road, Fakenham, Norfolk, NR21 8DB. We provide chimney sweeping and related services across Norfolk. You can contact Jamie on 07596 017501, Steve on 07419 981638, or email sgchimneysweep@gmail.com.
2. Quotes and additional work
We give prices based on the information you provide about your appliance, flue and property. Please tell us about known blockages, access difficulties or other relevant issues when arranging the visit. If the work differs materially from what was described, or we discover a problem such as a blockage or heavy deposits, we will explain what we have found and discuss any change in price before doing additional chargeable work. You can decide whether to go ahead with that work.
3. Appointments and access
Please make sure an adult can give us access to the property and appliance at the agreed time. The fire or stove must be cold enough for us to work safely. Please keep the work area accessible and make sure children and pets are kept safely away while we work. If we cannot safely access or sweep a chimney, we will explain why and discuss the next steps with you.
We take care to protect the work area and aim to leave the room as clean as we found it. Please let us know in advance about fragile fittings or anything else we should take particular care around.
4. Cancelling or rearranging
If you need to cancel or move an appointment, please let us know as soon as you can so we can offer the time to another customer. Nothing here affects any cancellation rights you have under UK consumer law, including rights that may apply to bookings made by phone.
5. Payment
Payment is due after the visit unless we have agreed a different arrangement with you in advance. For larger or ongoing commercial work, any different payment terms will be agreed as part of the quote or contract. If you need to check how to pay, please ask when booking.
6. Sweeping, inspections and certificates
We carry out the service agreed with you using reasonable care and skill. A routine sweep includes checks of accessible parts of the chimney and appliance, but is not a full structural survey or a guarantee that the entire system is free from hidden defects or safe for every use. We will tell you about concerns we notice and recommend further investigation where appropriate.
A sweep certificate records the work carried out on the visit. It is not a warranty or a substitute for any separate installation, building control or specialist inspection required for your appliance or property. We may be unable to sweep or certify a flue if its condition or access makes the work unsafe.
We check accessible cowls and terminals, but we do not fit cowls or carry out roof work. If that work is needed, we can put you in touch with trusted contacts who can provide their own quote.
7. If something goes wrong
Please contact us as soon as you can if you have a concern about our work so we have the opportunity to investigate and put things right. We will consider the circumstances and respond fairly. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights or excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
8. Your information
We use the contact and property details you give us to arrange and carry out work, answer questions, issue certificates and manage payment and records. We do not treat a booking as permission to send unrelated marketing. If you have a question about the information we hold, contact us at sgchimneysweep@gmail.com.
